A Message From Our Founder, Adam Pearson

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit our website and learn a little bit more about Net-Income pros.

Do you have a couple minutes for me to tell you a little story?

I think it will help you make a decision about whether Net-Income pros will be a good fit for you.

It starts way back in 1981, when my father, Dan Pearson, started building the Horton Grand Hotel in the Gaslamp Quarter of downtown San Diego.

Today, the Gaslamp Quarter is one of the swankiest neighborhoods in all of San Diego County.

But back in 1981, it was all gangs, vagrants, drug dealers, prostitutes, and pimps.

My dad was, and still is, a serial entrepreneur with tremendous vision and courage…..much like the clients who we serve.

I spent my childhood watching my father fight battle after battle trying to make his vision a reality.

In the end, he succeeded. The Horton Grand is still standing to this day.

It is a property that is worth tens of millions of dollars.

It has a new owner today, but my dad’s vision carries on.

As a kid, I always knew that I wanted to be an entrepreneur….just like my old man.

However, I got married young and had to make ends meet.

I studied hard and got a Master’s Degree in Accounting from San Diego State University and was studying to be a tax attorney.

My plan was to get a good, solid accounting job so that I could support my new family…..I had to put my entrepreneurial dreams on hold for a while.

But then something fortuitous happened.

My dad’s ex-CFO had started an accounting firm after my dad exited the hotel business.

He offered me a job working with a new client he had just signed up.

This client was an elderly lady in her mid-eighties who was worth about $30 million dollars.

Her husband had passed away 15 years prior and our client had developed dementia.

My boss at the time, Dudley, had been doing her tax returns for years.

Beatrice, our client, had no children and no immediately family.

Given her rapidly deteriorating mental condition, the court named Dudley the executor of Beatrice’s estate.

And he asked me if I wanted to be in charge of the account.

Of course I answered enthusiastically that I would love to take the job!

What an adventure…..

Our client was living in a studio apartment in a vacant apartment building that she owned.

She had two caretakers looking after her and every other unit was empty.

The building was located one block from the beach in La Jolla Shores, one of the most sought after locations in all of California.

And there was Beatrice, one of the world’s sweetest women, slowly becoming less and less coherent, living alone in her multi-million dollar beach front property.

Her husband was an amazing investor. As we started to unravel the estate, we found more and more shrewd investments…..some of which were ownership stakes in existing businesses.

This got me back into the world of dealing with entrepreneurs.

As I reached out to the partners of these businesses, I was given access to the accounting records and had the opportunity to work with a lot of operators on the financial side of their business.

The estate had stakes in about a dozen businesses.

By serendipity, I had stumbled on to what I wanted to do……help business owners, like my dad, with their finances.

I asked Dudley if he would be opposed to me starting up my own accounting business to help these businesses with their accounting.

He had no problem with it as long as he could keep doing the tax work.

And that is how Net-Income pros got started…..almost 20 years ago.

We weren’t called Net-Income pros at the time, we’ve been through several name changes as we’ve grown over the years.

Over the years, we’ve helped hundreds and hundreds of business owners find the right solution for their business accounting.

We’ve helped mom and pop shops all the way up to companies with hundreds of millions of dollars a year in revenue.

Here is one thing you should know about us……we care deeply about entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship.

I’ve been blessed enough to be able to hire some of the hardest working, smartest, and most dedicated people on the planet. These are the folks you will interact with, our team, if you decide to engage with us.

All we care about is making our clients happy and providing a great value.

We can help you in a bunch of different ways, from remote accounting, to headhunting your next in-house hire.

Whatever the case may be, you can be sure we won’t try to sell you something you don’t need and we won’t run up the bill on you.

We care too much about our clients to do that. We’ll give you honest value, that is a guarantee.
